Equal opportunities: against discrimination in the workplace

With his research, Stijn Baert has been denouncing discrimination on the Flemish labour market for years. His well-founded research shows that an applicant with a foreign name has effectively less chances of finding a job than someone with a Flemish-sounding name. Applicants with a non-Flemish name have up to 46% less chance of being invited for an interview.

Is this a general problem on the labour market or does it occur mainly within certain sectors? How do you map out discrimination? How do you make organisations aware of the impact it has and how do you measure discrimination in the workplace?

Is positive discrimination the solution or does it only mean more unequal treatment? In this inspiring keynote, Stijn Baert discusses some solutions to fight discrimination on the labour market.
